Sony Pictures presents a Lakeshore and Screen Gems production

Starring: Kate Beckinsale Scott Speedsman

Directed by: Len Wiseman

Rating:*****

Plot: Vampires and Ware Wolves or Lycon's have been at war for over a thousand years... Well guess what? We get to witness it as the wolvies chase down a human a "Death Dealer" or vampire named Selene (Kate Beckinsale) tries to find out why. A mystery is begins as lies from a thousand years ago come to the surface, kick ass fighting ensues.

Acting: Kate Beckinsale is one of the better actresses around and no one can really notice it I guess. I never saw Serendipity but I heard she was good. Even though Pearl Harbor had a horrible love story and ending, she was still good. In this movie we get to see how much of a bad ass she is. In the new time where woman characters are kicking ass left and right, she is believable. Also like other actors she has a look in which dominates the screen and you can't help but look at her. Also if you don't care about any of that, for the guys she wears a skin tight leather out fit in which every man wishes his girl friend owned, so see it for that if anything else guys. Scott Speedsman I have barely seen in anything I think, I can't remember if he was in anything or not. I guess that is a bad sign. Well he doesn't do much in this movie but run around and get his ass kicked, and he did a great job at doing that, so good work Scott. The one other actor who stood out to me was Michael Sheen who plays Lucian the bad wolf man. He was such a bad ass and his voice is so good for a villain, I want more of him in the future as a bad guy.

Directing/Writing: People will say this takes marks from The Matrix and blah blah blah. The movie is tinted blue and has a style, yes. It also has a style in which The Matrix did not have. This has a darkness to it that masters other movie like it. The mix violence and style, the way guns were shot and the way the camera pans during gun fights. It kicked ass. Even when the plot slows down your still interested in hell from the actions and the way the movie is filmed. Also great premise for a movie, so cool. Little things here and there just place this movie in the "uber cool" categories I have for some films. The little details about weapons and history made this movie a lot more interesting then I was expecting when I walked in. I also haft to mention try and see this movie in a theatre you know has a good sound system. I saw it in a great theatre in which the sound hits you hard. You could hear every bullet and growl and scream. Holly shit I can't wait for this movie on dvd, I will cry, seriously I will. Also congrats to the art department and CGI department for this movie. The sets were brilliant and the effects were not cheesy or over the top at all like Matrix Reloaded. The Ware Wolves were so well done when you see them up close, Wiseman also does a great job of not over showing the wolvies to a point in which the audience gets bored. He hides them and uses old school ways of actually making the audience fear them in a way. I am so excited the sequel is already in the works because I want more!!!

Overall: This fall has already started off with a great note and I personally can't wait for the rest of it. This movie is one of the best vampire movies out in a while since Queen of the Shit... Oops I meant Dammed. Also best Ware Wolf movie since An American Ware Wolf in London, I exclude An American Ware Wolf in Paris because that was one hell of a stupid movie. So yeah get off your ass and go see this movie so it rapes in the box office so a sequel can be made.
