Star Trek Nemesis
Paramount Pictures presents a Rick Berman production
Starring: Patrick Stewart Jonathan Frakes Tom Hardy Brent Spencer
Directed by: Stuart Baird
Plot: The Star Trek crew is back again. With Captain Picard(Patrick Stewart) heading the way. After finding a prototype of Data on what looks to be a planet inhabited by the Taliban and then they find that there are some problems in the galaxy. They meet a group of Remans(ugly basterds) they are commanded by a young clone of Picard(Tom Hardy) who has a big space weapon that can destroy Earth. Will the Federation let him get away with trying this? Hell no they won't and fighting ensues.
Acting: I've always love these Star Trek movies not just because of the science fiction but the cast. They all do a great job at doing what they do. I mean if you don't like Data(Brent Spencer) you must be a zombie. The one actor that stands out in this movie is Hardy who plays the villain, the Picard clone named Shinzon. He is so bad ass it made me want to cheer. Sadly he does not do much but say really good dialogue and sit and stare at a screen as his ship battles the Enterprise. Altogether one great cast that I hope meets at least one more time.
Writing/Directing: Well its a Star Trek movie all the science fiction stuff is really cool and they made one really great bad guy. The thing I really liked was the fact they put in a lot more action. Like a dune buggy fight and space battles which kept me engaged through out the entire movie. They added in some phaser battles but it turned into a Star Wars scene where Picard kills about twelve guys in like a second. One other little problem was that they find a duplicate of Data and barely use him really. Also the rumors that this is the last of the Generation movies is depressing because this movie did not have a final punch it ended like one of the episodes. Maybe that is better but I was hoping for a grand ending. There is one surprise at the end but it has a slight effect at the end. The dialogue is great and the space battles were very well done. It lacked a lot of hard emotion like First Contact had which made that movie so good. This one kept bouncing back to different stories of the characters and unlike FC it did not have the fear factor in it.
Overall: Its a good time I mean the Trekkies will like it. Sadly I don't know what others will feel because it has a lot of inside jokes. Maybe big audiences will like this one with all the action and mystery at start of the movie. Beats me I just can't wait for the Enterprise movie, if they ever make one.
