ROAD TO PERDITION
Dreamworks Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox present a Zanuck Company
production.
Starring Tom Hanks Paul Newman Jude Law.
A Sam
Mendes film.
Plot: A hired gun is on a job and his son sees what he really does for a
living, but now he and his son must run from the people they consider family in
this new 30’s gangster film.
Acting: This sadly is not the best work Iąve seen from Tom Hanks. His plain
“hard ass don’t talk much” attitude didnąt work for me. I like him with more
emotion in his words. Paul Newman on the other hand, hands out a performance
which must get him a best supporting actor nomination in next years Oscars. He
like always stands out and glows on screen with a performance that should never
be forgotten. Sadly Jude Law was not used much at all either, but when he was
on screen he used it well.
Directing/Writing: Sam Mendez and David Self (Screen writer) bring an
interesting story to the screen. Sadly I did not feel the heart in it. I donąt
know what it is, the pacing or what. But I did not care and towards the end
everything was pretty much predictable. Still this movie was visually beautiful
and several scenes will never leave my mind. So I do suggest many people go see
this film for the experience of seeing old Chicago. But no need to bring
anything to wipe your eyes with. This movie does not do a good job at making
you feel for the main characters. I felt more for Paul Newmanąs character, and
I donąt think the script meant that to happen. But hey, it’s got a couple good
gun fights which is always a winner in my books.
