The Medallion

Tri Star presents

Starring: Jackie Chan Claire Forlani Lee Evans and Julian Sands

Rating:*1/2

Plot: An ancient Medallion is being guarded by a young boy.(That really doesn't make sense if you think about it why would a kid be the on to protect such a powerful thing? Nevermind) Some bad guy named Snakehead (Julian Sands) tries to steal it but Jackie a Chinese police men saves the kid before Snakehead can catch him. Then they start chasing each other around until the Medallion is split in two and we find out it gives whoever posses it great power. Not enough Jackie Chan ensues in this really well horrible movie.

Acting: Jackie Chan is simply the coolest guy alive on the planet. The guy is getting so old now that its amazing he does his own stunts. I seriously loved him in Legend of Drunken Master and Project A and even Rumble in the Bronx and First Strike. I mean Jackie can do anything really, he is great at comedy, especially physical comedy. He also can kick a lot of ass. I mean the Rush Hour movies are great mainly because Jackie is so funny working off the most annoying man on the planet like Chris Tucker. Shanghi Noon and Knights also had the same affect, though Knights had really great action scenes. Besides all the Jackie has not done so well on his own vehicles like The Tuxedo and now this one. Jackie is still great and always will be great and he has nothing to do with this movie being bad. Now on to the rest of the cast. Poor Claire Forlani, she's a great actress and seems like a sweet person but oh man she can not pick scripts, or Hollywood just wants to fuck her around .(not in literal sense, well maybe but that is not what I meant) I mean she was in Meet Joe Black which no one wants to talk about and she was in Antitrust a movie with only one scene I remember in which the lead was hiding in a giant lego box. Anyway the poor girl can't get a good script really and its sad to see her say these horrible lines in this movie, I mean it really hurts. Okay I have no idea why this man was even in the movie, his name is Lee Evans I've seen him before but I don't remember where. He is in this movie for really no point what so ever. He says amazingly stupid things and does amazingly stupid things in which I think this movie was made for kids. That is not fair there are some really great moments in this movie with him in it. One scene where he finds out Jackie can't be killed and he stabs him several times and Jackie is fine so he has fun and keeps stabbing, I admit I was laughing. Okay last but not least is SNAKEHEAD, I claim this is the best villan name ever!!! I laughed when I heard this characters name. Julian Sands plays this guy I think he was Warlock but I can't remember. He actually does a good job isn't that funny? He does a great job of saying everything in style and a bad guy grace if that makes any sense. My only question is why he was dressed like a 70's pimp. Whatever.

Directing/Writing: Since I don't know who made this movie I can't blame anyone. I just haft to say this is the worst Jackie Chan movie ever made. The reason why is instead of letting Jackie have fun and do his thing they have him jumping around and using magical powers instead of letting him fight and show off his talents. All of this might be because Jackie is getting old and maybe they are trying to show graphics can work with these type of movies. Well they were dead wrong. This movie might have worked if they just let loose a little. Everything was so stereotypical of pg-13 action made for youngsters to see. If you have a magical Medallion why don't you make the bad guys Demons and have everyone fly around. Instead they have these typical hench men who don't know how to shoot or fight and of course they have this woman who is clearly a nazi woman or something, boring!!! At least they have Forlani and nazi woman battle in one scene and even in the sound track add a cat screeching. Good stuff. Also if you want to have this thing work at least calm your filming down a bit. Too many scenes where things were blurry and confusing. The movie also doesn't keep up with its own simple plot. So when Jackie has the Medallion he can jump really high and shit, but wait a second many scenes where he does not have the medallion he can still fly. Even some of the hench men can jump really high, that doesn't make sense. They also do this thing where they have Snakehead and Jackie face off and the fight makes no sense where they use a giant chain, I literally couldn't tell what was going on and I couldn't stop laughing. One word for this movie is simply, mess.

Overall: I am the biggest Chan fan but this just kicked me in the balls then slapped me in the face. I mean I felt stupid leaving the theatre. For shame on who ever made this movie and I hope they learn the lesson that Jackie does not need Graphics!!!
