NO SPOILERS, I promise:

Plot: Taking off were Reloaded ended. We follow are super human buddy Neo as he is trapped between the real world and the Matrix. While he does his thing Trinity and Morphious have to get him out of this, daze I guess you would call it. So he can help them fight the up coming war. Plus a robot swarm is only twenty four hours away from destroying the last human city on earth. Now the humans are not going to go down without a fight, so the robots bring them one. One massive man vs. robot uber battle and a pretty impressive film ensues.

Acting: The over all problem for both the Matrix Reloaded and this film is that the first Matrix was just so good. It really was a master piece. These two films are nothing compared to it. So you haft to keep this in mind as you watch these two films. Also to note I am writing this review almost as if Reloaded and Revolutions were just one movie. Which in a way they were. Anyway lets break down acting here. The number one problem for this film was pacing and smooth like texture. The first Matrix had everything done right and the dialogue moved with that pace. This film on the other hand does not. I mean I think it sets things up better than Reloaded did. There are still some scenes which come off just corny. I won't go into any details but some important scenes lack lets say an emotional pull. Now Reeves plays Neo a cyber punk super man and he does what he does best. Which is just be Keanu Reeves: "Whoa". I actually really liked him in this film. He came off more real and down to earth then he did in Reloaded where he was just a unstoppable bad ass, which got boring. Moss plays Trinity and actually doesn't have as much screen time as I thought she would. She does what she has to and comes off well. The one major surprise was the lack of Laurence Fishburne. I really enjoyed his character through the last two films and they kind of just drop him here. He has one or two good moments in the film and then just doesn't come back and you have no closure with his character. Which is a shame since Fishburne can act, just watch Mystic River and see what I am talking about. Now last on my little list is Hugo Weaving who plays the very funny Mr. Smith. He out does the rest of the cast with what I would call one of the best villain performances in a long time. He has many speeches and they are amazing, he is just too good and I can't wait to see him in the Return of the King in December. So it's a solid cast but not much to work with in the end. Oh yeah Will Smith's wife is in this movie again too. Niaobi or something, her character is pointless and too stretched out, no one cares about her character, I mean forgot about until I finished writing this section of the review. She was just a waste of space in this film.

Directing/Writing: Well you haft to give credit to the Wachowski brothers they have a lot of talent. This is one of the better trilogies, but it lacks in places. Where the film is strong is in its over all meaning and action sequences. I love the break down of what is real and what isn't, what does mean to have a choice? I love all that stuff. Many people said they hated Reloaded for its long out psycho bable scenes. Whatever fuck those idiots that is what I like about these movies. Sure the action is bad ass but that does not make a great movie. On the note of great action sequences I must bring up the battle in Revolutions. It is simply heart pounding to watch the battle between the Sentinals, squid like robots fight a small group of humans in metal suits with big machine guns. The battle was so realistic how the squid robots moved around like a swarm, how the plan of attack for the humans was set up. All the detail made the battle amazing real feeling. For that twenty minutes I think it was one of the best twenty minutes I have ever had in a movie theatre. Okay so we got past that part. We know the action is good but lets move on to what this film is lacking. I think the Wachowski brothers hit the same wall that Lucas and Spielberg hit in their trilogies. Too much money. That simple, with all that money you want to do so much and your style is gone. You watch the first Matrix and then Reloaded and Revolutions. Wow, very is a clear difference. All the darkness is gone. The fear is gone and the reality of pain in the sictuation leaves the audience. I don't know how it happened, maybe they rushed the script or just had too much money so everything had to be CGI, but the last two films are nothing like the first. I also think the Wachowski brothers put too much stuff on the plate. In Reloaded I was pissed because they seemingly rushed through the ending. They do it again in Revolutions and many things are not anwsered. The big questions are but key points are missing and it frustrated me as I left the theatre. I have heard rumors that a second Matrix video game is coming with more footage. I personally think putting so much footage into the first video game was a mistake and if they do it again, I just don't know what to say.

Overall: Brilliant film all around it cleans up any mess left behind by Reloaded but drops key characters to keep a flow going. I just miss the darkness of the first film. Oh well I still had a good time watching this movie and hell maybe there will be a Matrix 4? Matrix Reborn or something. Whatever I am out.
