Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
A Heyday films production
A Chris Columbus film
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint Emma Watson and the best Jason Issacs
Plot: Harry Potter wants to go back to school but after many warnings not to he does anyway to find out that not only is he being hunted, he holds the secret to unfold a mystery that has haunted Hogwarts school once before.
Acting: Well these kids are amazing young actors, which was established in the first movie. The fact that they do such a good job when most of the stuff on screen is computer animated. The children were mainly the only one's on screen and they did a great job. It was Jason Issacs though who playing the bad guy of course was just stand out great. You don't understand how much of a fan of his I am, I loved what he did in the Patriot. Anyway he was just so bad it made his moments in the movie good. Kenneth Branagh was great as a sell out magic teacher as well.
Directing/Writing: I never read the second book so I don't know how well they kept up with that. This was very cute I guess is all I can say. The lack of good script content they made up by making cool stuff happen constantly. Like moving pictures and living trees for example. My problem since I didn't read the book a lot of the stuff at the end made no sense what so ever. As the end came up rapidly I felt as if the movie started to speed up and make no sense. Things started to happen randomly and all I could do was laugh while people in the audience started to look at me. Maybe I just don't understand but the fact that they seemingly made up rules as they went and made no set up for the events that happened. I think the should have spread things out or cut some things so the audience that didn't read the book could understand. Because for me it seems this movie was just random as hell and actually mostly pointless.
Overall: I don't get why these books are doing so well I mean there is a lot better stuff out there. The first book did not interest me much and the movie was the same way. This movie just went all over the place. Also this movie is a little dark for kids I would think. Giant spiders trying to eat people and a serpant which gets its eyes cut open. Even a scene with a dead cat on a wall hanging. So Harry balls...I mean Harry Potter and the chamber of sucks...I mean secrets did not impress me much. If you want to see fantasy rent The Fellowship of the Ring or wait for The Two Towers. I mean I had fun watching this movie, but I also have fun watching Tron if you know what I mean. If this movie slowed down at the end and made a go at letting me understand what was going on, or why this guy from the past who some how gets to the future wants to kill Harry Potter for what seems to be no real reason maybe I would have liked this movie more.
