Plot: Its a romantic comedy about a group of people who decide that love is found only if you look for it... I'm just joking this movie is about what the title says basically... The core of the planet has stopped moving and the world is going to fry and a lot of other cool stuff will happen.... So only a group of people who really don't know what they are doing can save the planet from destruction..... Oh yes and the ONLY WAY OUT IS IN!!!... Lava and destruction ensue....

Acting: I am not going to lie to you I was expecting the worst from this movie and actually was surprised at how cool this movie really was at heart. The lead of the film is Eckhart who I really like as an actor and glad to see he is going more movies. The rest of the cast does a fine job and Stanley Tucci is there to just help this movie along with his over acting. Hilary Swank shouldn't have even been in this movie she doesn't do much besides say lines like "Were going in" and other pointless stuff. Its just funny to see her line up go like this... Boys Don't Cry, Insomnia... and The Core? Whatever this cast actually did a good job of making me care for them once the death comes around in this movie. My only complaint really is that D.J. Qualls is in this movie he's the guy from the god awful The New Guy and Road Trip. He is randomly in the movie and all I could think about is how I wanted him to die from radiation or a car landing on him... Its all good.

Directing/Writing: What can I say? Its better than any other world destruction movie I've seen. Well I know nothing about science so I have no idea if this movie is logical or not. I'm guessing its not even close to logical but I guess no one cares. The idea about the Earth just stop moving and things randomly exploding is pretty cool.... Directing wise there are some scenes that I think are the best things ever... The computer graphics in this movie are really great in places. For example this one scene where almost all of Rome is exploding and another scene where the Golden Gate bridge gets toasted are amazing to watch. They are hard to watch as well with a war going on and the idea of cities being destroyed is not on the top of my list. If you do see this movie try and see it in one of those huge theatres with the big sound system. Sadly thought the pacing in this movie is off. Its starts off with big bangs and leaves you wondering how and why. Once the group gets into this massive drill ship things slow down and get slightly boring. The dialogue between characters was not deep enough to keep these close in tight scenes to work. They would say something like "We haft to save the planet" and then talk about science stuff and then cut to a scene of the drill going through the Earth's crust or mantel. Another thing to note is the special effects here were bad and looked weird as the drill goes through the planet. So the movie seriously slows down when movies generally are suppose to speed up. If I made this movie I would have spaced out the destruction scenes to keep the audience on their toes.

Overall: Its fun and has its moments... Its more of one of those movies which you could rent and then also do your taxes or something while watching it... So I suggest watching this movie for the couple of really amazing scenes of destruction and then do whatever. I also have one question for who ever it may concern.... Was this movie all just one big sex joke with all the drills and stuff? Just wondering...

(Just to notify I have now put my rating at the top just because it looks cool but here it is again if you missed it)
