Big Fish

Columbia Pictures presents a Jinks/Cohen company-a Zanuck Company production

Starring: Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup, Jessica Lang

Directed by: Tim Burton

Plot: This movie is simply about a man trying to figure out if all the amazing stories that his father always told him were true. This is a sweet simply film in which we as an audience get to go on one amazing ride through one mans imagination.

Acting: I think it would be hard to make a movie like this. So much fun and so much magical surroundings. Ewan McGregor who I think is one charming man who makes great films. Especially the Star Wars films plays a man with a big heart whose one and only goal is to love and be loved in return. Later on in life as an old man he tells these stories over and over again, the older version of this man is played by Finney. Billy Crudup plays his son who is sick and tired of what he believes are lies and just wants to know his father for who he is. All three of these gentlemen give such heart filled performances if you don't leave the theatre with a smile on your face or a tear in your eye, you must not have a soul. McGregor gives the stand out performance since he plays a man through differen't decades and move right along with him. There is something about his that is just so dam charming and I love it actually every time I see him in a movie he never lets you down. I like that in an actor.

Directing/Writing: It is this simple, Tim Burton is a great man with a great mind and great talent to put his ideas on film. I loved his two Batman movies and The Nightmare before Christmas is one of my favorite movies of all time. Sleepy Hollow Is another under rated movie which I thought was brilliant. This movie seemingly is just a film to get lots of great ideas into one movie. So many cute little things happen in the film which will warm your heart or simply make you sit back in amazement. From watching a giant to trees that are alive to watching Ewan McGregor fight in the Korean War(Don't ask). Burton knows who to put a magical like style to things and it works so well in this film its hard to explain. Its just one big delight to watch a master of film make a masterpiece.

Overall: This is the sweetest and cutest movie I've seen all year. This is the type of film I've been expecting from Burton for a while. This is just a big treat for anyone who loves to go to the movies.
