Basic

Columbia pictures and Intermedia Films present A Phoenix Pictures production.

Starring: John Travolta Connie Nielsen and Samuel L. Jackson

Directed by: John McTiernan

Plot: Sammy Jackson is a head of an elite special forces team, but he is a super ass hole and on a training mission he and several others are missing presumed dead. Travolta is sent to figure out the mystery. Twists and more twists ensue.

Acting: When I think Travolta all I can think of is Grease and Battle Field Earth(Eww).... This movie will make up for that mess, not Grease I love that movie, but the other one. Travolta does hands on the best acting job to date in this I loved this performance. Connie Nielsen does a great job as the other army investigator. Samuel Jackson has a small role but when he is on screen he stands out and I loved it. Everyone else in the movie also does great jobs and make their characters feel real...

Directing/Writing: McTiernan has done a lot of good stuff including Predator and Die Hard for example. This movie is well timed and has a darkness in it which I enjoyed. The screen play must have been fun to read because this movie grabs onto you and never lets go all the way to the end. One second you'll think you know what is going to happen and then they switch it around on you all the way to an ending which will leave you stunned... I am still thinking about the ending now actually... This movie reminds me of The Usual Suspects in the way it tries to confuse the audience to make us connect with the characters who are also confused.

Overall: Basically Basic is a basic example of what basic movies should be about... Basically.... Whatever just go see it instead of some stupid movie with Chris Rock in it.
